Welcome to this space and thank you for participating to this crowdsourcing experience! Bienvenue!

  • Hello,

I am actually doing a thesis on this subject so I’ll be happy to share some ideas with you.

    :D

  • I’m an American (MSM) journo diving into the New Media here in Paris…having a blast, learning a lot…with a big, fat digital news project that i’m launching lean with two smart biz partners. a bientot! Jeff

  • Good question, Adriano! And you should first research in your own profile…
My short view: while there are hurdles on the editorial side, the main problem is always the business model, hence the ‘time to brand credibility’ and the funding. So, the first thing is to provide training on this, not just news writing etc. Both university training and permanent education.
Extra idea if you push me: look into franchise models, which in some sectors can reduce the above challenges…
After researching: Just do it! (again)

  • Detax non urban new economies activities that hire people under 35 coming from 3 or more UE countries

  • To stimulate it you need young italian girls

  • Free young europeans from fear of failure by making schools full of joy and self directed-learning.

  • Send them to Kaos Pilots in Aarhus Denmark.

  • tu vuoi fare l’americano? Fai bene. Auguri!

  • Adriano,

Je ne sais pas si j’aurais dû signer le jour où tu me l’as demandé.

    Voilà, tu pars.

  • you mean like berlusconi, but without liftings and plugs?

  • loving information not (only) journalism

  • L’envie, rien d’autre. Et ne jamais oublier que 100% des gagnants ont tenté leur chance (très bon slogan mal employé de la française des jeux!!!!!…..

  • Save the journalism, kill the moguls!!

  • Business model is the key. Either you ask the state (well, you can try), or you ask for traditional advertising (well forget it) or you ask readers to pay for news. This is probably the best way to garantee independence. Don’t ever rely on one funder, he might drop you for no good reasons. But when you have the money, you need to have the people, with the will to put themselves at risk. And then you realise the most important is to have a concept! Concept is king! But for good news project, if you need (some) journalists, you need entrepreneurs with a clear economic vision! La boucle est bouclée! Change business mentalities and get yourself on the board! La vérité est dans toi!

  • un plongeon dans le nuage informationnel

  • What can I say … I love this “Ritals” boy…I love lemon pie from his wife… big kiss for american girl for me !!!… tiens moi au courant de toi my friend…

  • Adriano,

To stimulate young journotrepreneurs, we need to turn medias into an adventure not only a casual job.

  • Adriano,

First for other visitors, sharing a post I wrote on my research blog about Adriano, Cafe Babel and his work on this question and young people in general: http://www.youngerthinking.com/?p=397

Second, my contribution: perhaps using European journalism schools as idea incubators, as ASU’s Knight Center for Digital Media Entrepreneurship does. Give students help with business planning, access to talent and experience, and some start-up resources. Or a national/pan-Europe competition of the News Challenge sort.

  • Europeans have always been amazing entrepreneurs. (look at NYC, it has an entrepreneur spirit thanks to many immigrants that came over).

I think the problem is in the “culture of hierarchy” and protocol. I think a more horizontal structure should be taught, AND also practiced, since it may not feel “natural” at first.

  • I deeply agree with Virginie. But I can see some good ideas in all the post-its!
Looks like people in need for new media have to ask for it louder! Or to get syndicated!
